Description

In option - Nestled in the charming village centre of Vremde, part of the municipality of Boechout, lies the historic Reigershof. This exceptional property enjoys a unique setting where tranquillity, space, and authenticity come together. From the garden, you overlook more than five hectares of protected agricultural land on which no future development is permitted, ensuring permanently open and green views. At the same time, shops, schools, restaurants, and public transport are all within easy reach, while Antwerp, Lier, and Mechelen are easily accessible via major connecting roads. A rare combination of rural serenity and everyday convenience.

Behind the stately façade of this impressive detached semi-detached residence lies an extraordinary piece of Vremde’s history. Built in 1908 and officially listed as architectural heritage, Reigershof was closely linked to the former De Reiger Brewery and remains one of the last tangible reminders of more than two centuries of local brewing history.

Offering an impressive living area of no less than 486 m², this character-filled property presents exceptional potential for those seeking a spacious family home, a professional practice, or a combination of living and working under one roof.

Upon entering, you are immediately welcomed by a grand entrance hall where authentic flooring, soaring ceilings, decorative mouldings, and original woodwork evoke the elegance of a bygone era. Numerous original features have been carefully preserved over the years, allowing the property to retain its unique character and charm.

At the front of the house are two former consulting rooms, complemented by a waiting area and separate toilet facilities. With their independent circulation, these spaces can perfectly accommodate a medical, dental, or professional practice without compromising the privacy of the residential areas.

The living spaces are exceptionally bright and inviting. The spacious kitchen overlooks the impressive garden and connects directly to the garage. From here, you enter the generous living and dining room, where expansive windows draw the surrounding greenery indoors. Throughout the home, high ceilings and authentic fireplaces contribute to an atmosphere of warmth, elegance, and grandeur.

The first floor comprises four spacious bedrooms and a bathroom. The second floor offers two additional bedrooms, a shower room, and a large multifunctional attic space ideally suited as a playroom, hobby room, studio, or additional living area.

Outside, the garden is undoubtedly one of the estate’s most remarkable features. Extending over approximately 2,000 m² and benefiting from uninterrupted views across the surrounding fields, it offers an exceptional sense of privacy, openness, and tranquillity.

Although the property requires renovation, its heritage status, authentic character, and unique location make it an outstanding opportunity for those seeking a prestigious restoration project with a rich historical legacy.

The owner,

owner speaks out

What attracted me from the very beginning was the soul of this home. The moment you step inside, you can feel the history woven into its walls. The authentic floors, magnificent fireplaces, soaring ceilings, and grand entrance hall create a sense of elegance that is increasingly rare today. This house has always played a special role in the village life of Vremde. The previous owners were the brewing family behind the historic De Reiger Brewery. When my wife and I purchased the property in 1980, we established Vremde’s first medical and dental practice here. Generations of local residents have visited this house, making it an especially meaningful place for us. What I will perhaps miss most is the view at the rear. Despite its central village location, the property enjoys an extraordinary sense of peace and quiet. The garden feels like a private park, visually extending into the surrounding countryside. It is a place where every season brings new enjoyment of light, space, and nature. After all these years, it remains a truly unique home to me: a residence filled with character, history, and a special connection to the village. I sincerely hope that its next owner will create as many cherished memories here as we have.
