Description

Idyllically located on the village square, just to the right of the church.Perfectly situated between Ghent and Brussels, both about a 20-minute drive away. Just a five-minute walk to the Serskamp woods, the Geelster Valley, or the towpath along the Scheldt river. Enjoy artisanal ice cream at Lotte’s, let the kids play at the De Klaverlochting petting farm, indulge in delicious tapas at Clement, or authentic Neapolitan pizza at Delizie Italiane – from this base, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

This contemporary home, designed in 2017 by architect Geert Devolder, sits literally beneath the church tower. Yet, the house radiates surprising calm and space, thanks to an architectural style that emphasizes light and views. Floor-to-ceiling windows and continuous concrete flooring create a seamless indoor-outdoor flow. Afzelia wood adds warmth; built-in Grohe fixtures, custom cabinetry, integrated closets, and discreet blinds bring a sense of serenity.

Through the glass pivot door, past the guest toilet and cloakroom, you enter the living space. The open-plan kitchen is fully custom-made, with a Corian countertop and a charming breakfast cupboard hidden behind a wall of cabinets. The adjacent dining area offers views of the village church, and the cozy living room is centered around a wood-burning fireplace. Functional basement.

The landscaped, south-facing garden enjoys sunlight all day long. In autumn, the climbing plants at the back turn a beautiful deep red, and under the covered extension, dining is pleasant in every season. Upstairs you’ll find: a master bedroom with open dressing, two children’s rooms with custom wardrobes, a bright open office area, and a stylish bathroom featuring a designer bathtub, walk-in shower, double sink, and toilet.

The only thing left for you to do is pack your bags and… start enjoying it right away!

The owners, Pauwel and Marie,

owner speaks out

“What immediately struck us about this design is the incredible openness and the abundance of light that flows into every room. Everywhere you go, you experience space and tranquility. It’s quite unique to live right in the heart of the village, yet constantly be surrounded by greenery and silence. On cold winter days, the fireplace crackles softly while we curl up with a book by the window seat. In summer, we sleep with the windows open, as if we’re staying in the middle of nature – waking up to birdsong is pure happiness for us. And on warm days, the scent of lavender greets you on the terrace, as if you’re in the South of France!

We cherish so many beautiful memories here: the children’s spring celebration in the garden, birthdays with friends and family, long evenings under the stars, or watching our little ones play in the sandbox from the kitchen… Each one a small or big happy moment.

If we had to choose a favorite spot, it would be the window seat. There, with a view of the greenery and the church tower, we find peace. Or starting your day early with a relaxing bath in the morning sun – those are the things that make this house so special.”
